Rules and Competition Criteria STAR Contestants

 

All AmeriFest pageants are natural pageants. The criteria is listed below.

When space is permitted, only ONE person allowed in dressing room. NO MEN! If you have a hair & makeup team they may be required to get a H&M lanyard to style in the dressing area.

​

***On pageant day, unless otherwise specified on entry forms, if for any reason you do not have a certified original copy of a birth certificate on hand you may very well lose your title on the spot.

​

PLEASE NOTE: If the contestant is in need of physical help while on stage, one parent per contestant is permitted to accompany them on stage. Parent should wear black or another dark color, no writing on the attire, and no holes in pants. In no way should the parent’s attire distract from the contestant.

Attire

Attire can have stones, sequins, etc.

Short or long gowns are permitted just make sure they can walk easily in a gown. Long dresses should barely graze the floor unless contestant is unable to walk in the dress safely, at which time the hem can be slightly raised.

 

Socks and shoes are personal preference but it is suggested to not wear black shoes for beauty.

Light makeup may be worn. 

Light powder, lip gloss, clear or light mascara, light blush.

Fake hair pieces are strictly prohibited, this includes pony or hair clip in extensions.

​

Spray tans are strictly prohibited. However, an lotions, such as Jergens, is allowed.

​

Fake nails or gel nails are not prohibited. Clear or light polish only.

Stage Time

It is never suggested for contestants to do any type of "routine" modeling or other glitz moves. Waiving or blowing a kiss is fine.

Remember, they need to project their personality.

​

If a child is shy or needs physical help, one parent per contestant is permitted. See dress code above.

Sportsmanship

If there is poor sportsmanship by a parent, contestant, or family member, not only do you set a bad example, but the contestant could be relinquished of title and all prizes. This includes behavior in the dressing area, in the ballroom, back stage, inside or outside the facility.

All scoresheets and comments are emailed within 14 days of the pageant.

Ages 4-6

Beauty Enhancements

Attire

Dresses must be floor length and age appropriate. If possible, dresses dresses should graze the floor, however if the contestant is unable to walk in the dress safely, a shorter hem will be accepted. Contestants will not be marked down for the length of dress. Contestants should not hold their dress up at any time while on stage.

Shoes are personal preference but it is suggested to not wear black shoes for beauty.

Full makeup is allowed but must be age appropriate. Fake lashes are allowed.

​

Hair pieces are strictly prohibited, this includes pony or hair clip in extensions.

​

Spray tans are at your own discretion. Please keep in mind some judges may not like the artificial look.

​

Very short acrylic nails or gel nails are permitted, but not too long or unnatural looking.

Stage Time

Contestants will be judged on poise and projection while modeling,
taking their disability into consideration. Remember “less type modeling” and more grace and eye contact with the judges will be important. This is your chance to shine, so show your personal style and inner beauty.

Sportsmanship

If there is poor sportsmanship by a parent, contestant, or family member, not only do you set a bad example, but the contestant could be relinquished of title and all prizes. This includes behavior in the dressing area, in the ballroom, back stage, inside or outside the facility.

Beauty Enhancements

Ages 7-12

Attire

Floor length gowns only. 13-16 year olds may not have a front hi-low gown and they are not suggested, however if the contestant can only be in a style that is open in the front, the "under dress" must be knee length and the gown should close when standing still. 17 and above can wear a gown of their choice. At no point should a contestant hold their dress up while on stage.

Shoes are personal preference but it is suggested to not wear black shoes for beauty.

Full makeup is allowed but on younger teens the makeup must be age appropriate. Lashes are permitted.

​

Hair extensions are permitted.

​

Spray tans are permitted

​

Acrylic or gel nails are permitted.

Stage Time

Girls will be judged more on their poise and projection while modeling, taking their disability into consideration. Hands on hips is Allowed but should be at a minimum.

Sportsmanship
